Java w/ Jesse: A Podcast
Welcome to Java with Jesse, a podcast focusing on personal habits and hobbies that have helped me become a more mindful individual over the past year. In spite of the struggles the pandemic brought, I have learned how to grow and nurture my soul with my new obsessions and practices to live a more peaceful and productive lifestyle. I hope along the way you learn something about yourself, just as recording this podcast has been a great learning experience for myself as well. So grab a cup of joe and listen along!!
Moth & The Flame Music Video SFX
If there's one thing I learned from Sound Design 101, it's that I do really well in project-based courses and work environments. This was my very first official sound design project, which I poured hours upon hours into having only just started learning the Pro Tools software. Since then, I have developed and honed my skills in the audio recording and editing field, yet this project still holds a close place in my heart. Below is 2 minutes of the music video for "Only Just Begun" from the band The Moth & The Flame with the music completely stripped out. All of the audio that you will hear was created by me in post production. Enjoy!
Proving Grounds Sound Design Leader
For my final sound design credit to complete my minor, I took a class called Game Sound Design and Scoring. This was another project-based class where we teamed up with the Game Design Capstone class and worked on the sound design for the video games that class was developing. I chose to work on a wave-based survival game called Proving Grounds. Inspired by Egyptian mythology, you play as a minor god who has to battle different enemies in waves until you defeat the Alpha and prove your worth to the higher gods. For this project, I lead a team of 4 individuals from the Sound Design class and implemented deadlines and expectations, upheld weekly communication with the Capstone class, and attended the Capstone class' virtual showcase as the Sound Design representative while we presented our game to a panel of special guest game designers and faculty. Below are three gameplay demos which showcase the sound design work my team and I have done, as well as the project plan PowerPoint.
Good Vibes Only: Agency Playlist
During my internship with MINT Talent Group before they brought me on board as a full-time employee, I worked a lot with the agency's marketing director. As a marketing campaign project, I was tasked with curating, designing, and promoting a playlist that featured some of our roster's artists that was both cohesive and consistent with MINT's other marketing campaigns. Below are the graphics I designed for MINT's Instagram as well as the playlist itself!
Short Film Scoring Project
This was my final project for my Scoring for Film and Media class at DePaul. This project was done using LogicPro X, and this was my final project after just 10 weeks of learning the software. I think the tone and musical composition/editing that this video exemplifies were successful and shows my ability to pick up on different skills and softwares quickly and with nuance.
Artist Management Final Project
One of my favorite classes I've taken at DePaul had to have been Artist Management for my Music Business minor. Our professor works at Mick Management, a well-known management company within the music industry that manages artists such as Maggie Rogers, Leon Bridges, Jon Batiste and more. Our final project was group-based where we were assigned a mentor manager from Mick who we worked closely with to understand the ins and outs of managing a music artist. Below is the PowerPoint presentation that highlights an overview of the band we "managed," tour routing information, a marketing plan, and a creative "big idea" for the future of our artist.
